| C W Equipment Co. began as a division of Clark-Wilcox Co. in 1977 when the company,
started by Frank Wilcox and W.I. Clark in 1921, and now owned by the Fitts family, (Harvey Fitts
became a partner with Frank Wilcox when W.I. Clark decided to take the Connecticut operation over
in 1925, and bought out the Wilcox interest in 1954) wanted to get involved with an industrial
line of farm and utility equipment. Operating out of a full service facility on Rt. 110 in Methuen, MA, CWE eventually consolidated with the Clark-Wilcox Co. operation located in Southborough on the main highway from Boston to Worcester, Rt. 9. In 1996, the Fitts brothers got the opportunity to down size their operations and further develop their goal of providing used equipment as well as some new attachments to their customers while also being available for consulting and appraisal work, under the C.W. Equipment Co. nameplate. | |||
